Abstract

This article examines the university studies of Law in the Modern Age. The teaching methods developed in the Baroque Castilian Universities have been analyzed, and we have verified how this teaching was based on the Corpus Iuris Canonici and in the Corpus Iuris Civilis. In addition, it is necessary to highlight one of the most important novelties emerged in the seventeenth century regarding the teaching of Law: El Arte legal para el estudio de la jurisprudencia, the first textbook written in Spanish. A treatise published by the jurist, historian and ecclesiastic from Granada Francisco Bermúdez de Pedraza (15761655), in Salamanca in 1612
