Abstract

This article considers the almotaçaria of the properties, a Lisbon municipal institution responsible for the resolution of conflicts between neighbours resulting from activity involving construction. It explains the legal influences left following the reception of the ius commune in this institution, both at the level of the customary law of municipalities, and at the level of the general law of the kingdom. It then analyses juridical conflicts, both judicial and regulatory, created through the overlapping elements of the ius commune in the almotaçaria of the properties of Lisbon, which took place during the early-modern period.
